Festivals always bring joy, peace and prosperity in our life. There are many festivals in our country and in other parts of the world. Each festival has its own importance and history and celebration style. One of the festivals is Diwali. As we approach Diwali certainly it brings an excitement on our face. Children become excite to have new clothes, burst crackers sweets and family celebration. Professionals become excited to have promotion or bonus in their office. Industrialist and merchants excite to maximize their sales during festival and make good profits.  Old age persons excited to have their family and children together in home.  Poor are excited to get some gift and new clothes during festival.  Therefore we can say that Diwali is really exciting for everyone.

What is Diwali?

Diwali is a Hindu festival widely celebrated in India and other part of the world. Diwali is one of the Most Important Hindu Festivals in India.  Not only Hindu celebrated Diwali, but this festival is also celebrated by, other religions such as Sikh, Jain, and Bouddh. Thus the festival serves to enhance social unity.

The festival of Diwali signifies the victory of truth over evil and victory of light over darkness. Not only is it a symbol of religious faith but it also has social, spiritual methodological historical and economic importance. This festival is also known as Festival of Light since this festival is closely interlinked with lights and lamps.


Diwali Preparation

Diwali preparation tarts with the cleaning. Home, office or shops everywhere the cleaning process starts almost one month before the actual date of Diwali.

As Diwali come closer market are decorated with electric lights such as Led, earthen products shops, fire crackers shop and sweets shops in the markets. People used to perches new traditional clothes, crackers and many other puja materials for the festival. Rangoli making material

People used to decorate their home and building with colorful led light almost one month before. On the day of Diwali the come home is cleaned. A plate for Diwali puja ritual is arranged having puja material. An idol of goddess Lakshmi is placed in home or in public places.  Diwali songs are played the whole day. The excitement can be easily realized on the face of everyone especially on children.

History of Diwali

The festival of Deepawali has been celebrated since ancient times in India. The history of this festival is different from people of different states, but most people believe that when Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, the people of Ayodhya lit a lamp of ghee to welcome him and also, every road to Ayodhya was decorated with golden flowers.

The people of Jainism celebrate the festival of Diwali because Mahavir Swami, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara, attained salvation on this day and incidentally his disciple Gautama attained enlightenment on this day.

Sikh community also celebrates this festival with great pomp and light. They celebrate the festival because the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, Hargobind Singh Ji, was released from the prison of Gwalior by Jahangir on the same day.

This festival teaches us to never be afraid of the darkness because even the flame of a small lamp can turn dark darkness into light, so we should be optimistic in our lives at all times.
